For those adults who were Baptized in other traditions, were baptized Catholic but never received the other Sacraments of Initiation, or for those who have never been Baptized at all, we are pleased to offer the Rite of Christian initiation for Adults (RCIA) as an opportunity for these individuals to be welcomed into the Church.

After a long journey of formation, prayer, and discernment by the individual and the community, the Christian Initiation of Adults is celebrated in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist, usually at the Easter Vigil each year.  RCIA provides the forum for this conversion. Meeting one evening during the week and again on Sunday mornings for approximately nine months, those inquiring into the Catholic faith have the chance to learn the basics of Church teaching, break open the Gospel, and discover the fullness of God’s covenant with us.  All those who are interested in inquiring about the faith are welcome into the program at anytime. RCIA in 2022-23 begins with a Come and See evening on Tuesday, September 13th at 7:15pm in Our Lady’s room off the main body of the church. Classes start the following Tuesday.

For adults (14 years of age and up), please contact Maureen at 780-691-7531 or email molovsin@gmail.com

If your child (ages 6-13) has not received Baptism or has been baptized in a different faith:

We are pleased to offer the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC). This program is for children aged 6 and over who have never been baptized or were baptized in a different faith. This is a journey in which your child will come to know more about God, the Bible, the Sacraments and the doctrine of the Catholic Church. We hope that your child will not only learn about God and the Church, but will deepen his or her relationship with the Lord and the Church.  RCIC is a weekly class that prepares children to receive the Sacraments:  Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil each year. Classes are held weekly starting in the early fall.

Registration and the first class is on Wednesday, September 21st  at 6:30pm upstairs in the Kateri Common Room. In order to register your child, we need consent from both parents and a copy of the child’s birth certificate (the long form which lists the parent’s names). Registration is $15 and covers the cost of the workbook.
